History
Coconut Creek got its name came from coconut trees that early developers planted in the region. One of the developers, Robert E. Bateman, came up with the name by combining the names of two Miami villages -- Indian Creek and Coconut Grove. Even though the city was planned, it maintains a unique consciousness of the environment and everything around them with a number of trees, waterways, gorgeous parks, expansive butterfly gardens and landscaping that is absolutely breathtaking.
